traveling with baby...

pete and i are embarking on a very busy traveling week coming up around easter. first we are driving down to atlanta to attend an award show (atlanta is around 4 hours away) then staying there 2 nights before driving back home. then the next day flying out to california. our flight is a little later then we would've liked but it was all we could get. so any tips with traveling this much with a baby? yes bennet will be with us for ALL of it. she is a pretty chill baby still as long as she is fed and well rested, but that doesn't take the stress away. what if she flips? what if i flip?? do i try and switch her schedule to cali time (2 hours behind us) do we seriously do this? i mean we are crazy right? i wouldn't be this stressed if they were separate trips with some time in between to rest and get back to normal. so my question...have you traveled with your baby close to bed time (on a plane?) have you traveled with a different time zone? what tips would you give us for all of this??

all of this is still a month away and i am already stressing about it. not to mention what i am going to wear to the award show (umm hello nursing DOES NOT help you lose baby weight!!! liars) so any help would be lovely :)

...and because i just can't get through a post without putting a pic of this cute baby up...

I know it's a little boring, but I've been counting calories and doing workout videos plus long walks when it's nice out. I really like Bob Harper's Yoga for the Warrior, it's the closest I've gotten to that yoga mindset since I had to give up my studio membership.

Hey mama!!! Traveling through the air port will be easier I'd you have a Maya wrap. If you don't already have one, get one. It will encourage some extra close mama baby time while in the new environments and will help you have you hands free while going through security etc.
When our daughter, Ruslana was just 1.5 months old we drive to Philly (1.5 hours) then flew to atl. It was nice having her in the Maya wrap also while on the plane cause she could be in there sleep, nurse and hang out all while in the wrap. It was awesome.
Just recently we drove to atl (14 hours) with Rusy. It was smooth sailing. I feel like as long as both mama and dad are prepared and have prayed for tons of grace and patience, you gotta laugh and roll with the punches.
Don't be sad about the baby weight. I gained 80lbs!!!! I know redic! I nursed for a year and I lost ZERO!!!! lbs that whole time, and when I worked out my milk supply would dry up!! So I did nothing except eat well. The only thing I kept close to my heart was that my husband saw me beautiful. I gave him our daughter and when I could stop nursing and work out, it came off!!!!! It will for you too!
Be encouraged and have a family trip to remember!!!

You'll be fine! She'll go with the flow and so will you. I used the Ergo when I travel and they don't make me take it off in security, they just pat me down a little which is WAY easier. Owen nurses on the plane, so try to get a window seat and have your hubs sit next to you (I've traveled alone w Owen for the most part so strangers see my boob and I don't care if they care) Owen is 1 and we had our first rough flight this month because he wanted to get down and play, before that he was a dream. Little B is going to be great, you'll see!

For some reason I haven't been updated on your updates so I just spent some time catching up on your life with baby Bennett. :)

We drove to Florida when Joel was almost 6 months and that was a time zone change by +1 hour. He stuck to his schedule for the most part, but did everything one hour earlier than Florida time... which I was happy about because going back to Oklahoma meant things didn't change. When on that trip we learned Joel hates driving when it's dark, but we found having shows he liked on the laptop for him to watch helped a lot. If you guys have an iphone or ipad or laptop you can take I'd recommend that! Just in case. ;)

Our first flight won't be until Joel is 12 months, but Josh talked to SW and they said you can bring a carseat (we bought him a ticket) but they find it can be better for the baby to have their own seat to sit and play with. Bennett is smaller though, so I don't know if that would be as effective.

You'll have to be sure to post about Cali! We're driving there the end of May so I'll be very curious to hear about how she did!
