quiet around here lately

so sorry i haven't posted in a while...we have been busy. bennet and i spent some time in st louis with my family. it was a lovely visit and we were so thankful we got to help mimi celebrate her 60th bday!

since we have been home we have been spending as much time with dada as possible. being away from him for 1 1/2 weeks was super tough. we only had 3 days together but he gets back home sat night so that is good. i am dreading the fall though cus we will be away from each other a lot (the longest stretch is 3 whole weeks...ugh). we have also been getting ready for someone's bday party!!! here are the invites made by my dear friend sharon...

teething is the pits

seriously. bennet has been under the weather the past 2 days. high fever (101.8 was the highest it got so no virus..we think) her gums are swollen and she has been sleeping a ton.

we have been filling our days with tons of cuddles. i love the cuddles but not the reason why. it is so hard to see your baby sick. all you mommies know how hard it is. we are just thankful it hasn't gotten too high. i hope and pray tomorrow she will be back to her normal happy self.

11 months!

oh my dear little one, you are now 11 months old! we spent the entire day with lots of snuggles and baby einstein as you have a fever. it has been so sad to see the sickness in your eyes and how you have not been your playful, happy self. you took lots of naps (one on mommy) and you went to bed earlier (although it was tough you just wanted to sleep on me all night) hoping and praying you wake up feeling like yourself tomorrow.

you are such a little mover! you love crawling all over the house and especially where you aren't suppose to. when you hear "NO" you must think it means move faster! one of your favorite games is to pull everything out of my recipe drawer in the kitchen. you have so much fun and love taking it all out and putting it back in. hope this means you will be a helpful cleaner around the house.
you love to wave at everything, clap, dance, fireworks, petty, and books. you have said "hi" a bunch but dada is still your fav. you always try to mimick words.
you are obsessed with veggies. you still haven't really gotten into fruit. i laugh because you obviously didn't get my sweet tooth you def take after your daddy's taste buds. avocado and steamed veggies seem to be your favorite but you also enjoy mac n cheese. you tried meat the other day but i think you weren't feeling it cus you were getting sick and you are teething.
this month has been a big learning experience for both of us. you have a big personality! we are growing and learning together everyday and that makes it great. i am so thankful to be your mama. thank you for all the kisses and snuggles lately (you must know i have been needing them lately...seeing you grow up so fast is tough!) you are the best baby girl!

{over it and over feeling sick}

our holiday weekend

we had a very busy and fun holiday weekend. pete's brother and his girlfriend were visiting from san diego. we had a blast! lots of eating and site seeing and fireworks were had.

bennet and i also went to miss lorelei's 1st bday party. it was a lot of fun and bennet was excited to see all her friends. lorelei even tried to share her cake with b! haha

we ended up spending the 4th with some great friends and decided to take bennet to see the fireworks. she is normally in bed by 7 but she took a late nap and she seemed pretty happy so we decided to give it a go. she loved them! she just laughed and laughed at them it was pretty much hilarious! unfortunately we are bad at taking pics and didn't get any in her cute outfit or that day. sad. it was sad to think that this was her last "1st holiday" she has experienced all the coming up holidays before. why is she getting so old so fast?!!?

i will admit it...when bennet first arrived i was a little surprised (shocked!!) that she was pretty much bald. i had pictured a baby with lots of dark hair like her daddy. but she def takes after me in the hair department. i love that her hair is growing and growing everyday. i love putting little clips in and i long for the day i can put little piggy tails in. when i was little i had curly/wavy hair. she is getting the cutest little curls! i can't take it when i see them. they are so darling.
well along with her hair getting longer, it is making for some pretty funny crazy bed head. she wakes up with bouffant like everyday. it just cracks me up. you can't see it too well in these photos but everyday it is something new.

dear bennet,

you now think your crib is the coolest place to play. you finally fell asleep for your nap today after talking for an hour. i almost got you out thinking you were not tired. then...the talking stopped. nap time won.

summer things & father's day

we have been having a lot of fun lately around here. this stage little bennet is in is so fun! she is so sweet, curious, determined, brave, a little stinker, and so happy right now. i am really loving watching her grow and learn new things. right now she is determined to climb up on everything. she also loves to take steps while you hold her hands. she REALLY wants to see what the cat food is all about and loves to explore the house (all the places she isn't suppose to go) even though it is a lot more tiring chasing her, this new stage has been a blast.

pete's 1st father's day was a great day. so glad he was home. he had a show on saturday in st louis so he got to see my family. he ended up getting home at 5am. so when bennet woke we got up quietly to play and make him breakfast in bed. which he loved if i do say so myself :) bennet went down for a nap while we got ready for church. pete and i haven't been to church in FOREVER! that is the funny thing...being in a christian band and on the road a ton and he very rarely is home on sunday to go to church himself. this was also bennet's 2nd time in the nursery. it was so nice to sit and be with pete and learn while knowing bennet was getting well taken care of and having fun playing with other babies. after church we picked up some tacos at his favorite taco stand. we all took a 3 hour nap then got indian food and a movie for a night in.

i love sharing these little moments with my family. with pete being gone a ton he tends to miss these special days a ton. it is really hard...on both of us. it def makes us really appreciate them. even though i love that he is doing what he always dreamed of (and loves to do) i do wonder what it would be like to have him home. no longer missing birthdays, holidays, or anniversaries.

it is now summer! even though i am def more a spring time girl i do love taken bennet out in her little pool. she loves it! next year we will def join the y so she can swim in a bigger place. for now though this little cheap thing does the trick. ha
