summer things & father's day

we have been having a lot of fun lately around here. this stage little bennet is in is so fun! she is so sweet, curious, determined, brave, a little stinker, and so happy right now. i am really loving watching her grow and learn new things. right now she is determined to climb up on everything. she also loves to take steps while you hold her hands. she REALLY wants to see what the cat food is all about and loves to explore the house (all the places she isn't suppose to go) even though it is a lot more tiring chasing her, this new stage has been a blast.

pete's 1st father's day was a great day. so glad he was home. he had a show on saturday in st louis so he got to see my family. he ended up getting home at 5am. so when bennet woke we got up quietly to play and make him breakfast in bed. which he loved if i do say so myself :) bennet went down for a nap while we got ready for church. pete and i haven't been to church in FOREVER! that is the funny thing...being in a christian band and on the road a ton and he very rarely is home on sunday to go to church himself. this was also bennet's 2nd time in the nursery. it was so nice to sit and be with pete and learn while knowing bennet was getting well taken care of and having fun playing with other babies. after church we picked up some tacos at his favorite taco stand. we all took a 3 hour nap then got indian food and a movie for a night in.

i love sharing these little moments with my family. with pete being gone a ton he tends to miss these special days a ton. it is really hard...on both of us. it def makes us really appreciate them. even though i love that he is doing what he always dreamed of (and loves to do) i do wonder what it would be like to have him home. no longer missing birthdays, holidays, or anniversaries.

it is now summer! even though i am def more a spring time girl i do love taken bennet out in her little pool. she loves it! next year we will def join the y so she can swim in a bigger place. for now though this little cheap thing does the trick. ha

bennet's 1st bday inspiration part I

hello hello.

my baby girl is turning 1 in just 2 short months! what the whhhaat???!! this doesn't even make sense to me. i have been keeping myself busy (especially when pete is gone) with planning, crafting, and searching online for ideas. it is weird to actually be super sad and excited at the same time.
so in searching for some inspiration i wanted to share some great sites. def check these out if your planning a party:

those are just a few of the many great ones out there. i love looking at all the "real" parties people send in. there are so many creative people in the world! i just love it.

so the "theme" for bennet's party is 'pinwheels and polka dots' i love all the cute pinwheels recently seen in lots of parties and i just thought that would go well with polka dots.
this lady's photography blog has been my biggest inspiration. from the colors to all the little details...i can't take it! so adorable.

this is just part one. i will (sometime soon) share some of my crafts i am working on and the many ideas i am wanting to attempt. hopefully it will all come together. the next 2 months can go by sllloooww. for many reasons ;)

this was the 1st morning you got the hang of crawling...needless to say you were not too thrilled with us for making you work for my cell phone. haha

10 months

DOUBLE DIGITS! i can't believe it baby girl. 10...TEN...months old!!?!?!

everyday brings something new. whether its some new sass, deciding you no longer like your bedtime books, crawling, or one of the most adorable things i have ever seen...you clapping.
you worked so so hard to crawl this whole past month and then the day before you turned 10 months you just started going. we were so so proud of you! now you love to follow me around the house and you especially love to chase petty.

oh my dear you are so sassy. i don't even know where this came from {your daddy says from me...whatever ;)} but most the time it makes me laugh. you are growing up and letting us know that you have a personality. you are most sassy during dinner or anytime when you are eating. you are such a loud eater! it cracks us up. we can't take you to a quiet restaurant anymore as you quickly make it a loud one. you love to say "nom nom nom" while you are eating and when you want more you yell at us. its insane and so so funny. we are working on the baby sign for 'more' but you prefer to yell.

you are so sweet my little girl. i know i say that every time but it is so true. watching you learn and grow is such a blessing. you have brought more to us then you will ever know. i can't believe in just a couple short months you will be 1! i am dreading this but also looking forward to it. just promise as you grow that you will stay my little baby girl.

it has been a good day...hot but good. (well after i got my coffee around 1. never waiting that long for my caffeine fix again) tonight i am heading over to this dear girl's house for some hang time with the girls and crafting! it will def be a lovely evening and i am looking forward to getting some crafting done for bennet's birthday. next week i will have to share a post with all my ideas and progress so far for her 1st bday! i have been a little insane about it and i have to stop myself and say i have enough on my plate and i don't need to add a whole outdoor decor tent in my backyard. {calm down melissa} anyways my little boog will be 10 months tomorrow!?!?! double digits. ahhhh! oh and today she started really crawling. she has taken a few tries at it before but man oh man today she is all over the place. i will post a video of it tomorrow bc its hilarious! lets just say she isn't that into it but knows she has to do it to get things she wants {we temp her with things she isn't allowed to play with like our phones and remote} anyways BIG 10 month post tomorrow! have a happy friday!

zoo

this morning b and i went to the zoo with jill and addison! we had a great time and when we got home bennet took close to a 3 hour nap! i will say that she had more fun checking out her little boyfriend then looking at the animals.

st louis trip

our trip to st louis was fun! it was full of cousins, play time, shopping, bad storms with lots of tornado sirens, and good food. bennet always has a blast with her cousins. we have discovered that she sleeps so much better (fast to fall asleep and longer naps) when we are traveling. i guess we should do it more ;)
i know i have said it before but i wish family was closer. our trips are so fun and wish they could happen more often.
